Dear Wastewater Customer,
As you might be aware, your wastewater collection system is owned by the Jackson County Utility Authority and is operated and maintained by the West Jackson County Utility District. The Jackson County Utility Authority and the West Jackson County Utility District have mutually agreed to allow the service contract to expire on January 15, 2009, and as of January 16, 2009, the Jackson County Utility Authority will assume the operation and maintenance duties of your system. The West Jackson County Utility District has performed well throughout the life of our agreement, and we commend them on their efforts.
Along with the operation and maintenance of the Ocean Beach Estates collection system, we are also ready to begin construction of the collection lines on the remaining roads in our service area as well as upgrades to our wastewater transportation system near Ocean Springs. We have planned a Community Workshop at the Fountainebleau Community Center on January 7, 2009, from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM. During this time we will have maps posted showing our work plans, and customer service will be available to establish your account with us. Your personal account information you presently entrust to the West Jackson County Utility District remains with them, and we will ask to collect new account information for service directly from us. If you are unable to stop in at our workshop on this date, you may contact our customer service department at (228) 762-0119 to make other arrangements to establish your account.
We appreciate your patience during this change. It is very important to make sure we establish your account to ensure there are no service interruptions and our technicians are able to reach you should you need repair service. Under your present agreement with the West Jackson County Utility District, your monthly fee is billed in arrears. As such, your last payment reminder from the West Jackson Count Utility District will arrive after January 15, 2009. Your first monthly payment to the Jackson County Utility Authority will arrive after February 15, 2009. The Jackson County Utility Authority charges an account origination fee and the monthly wastewater charge is presently $40.00. Existing customers transferring from the West Jackson County Utility District that establish their account prior to February 1, 2009, will have the account origination fee waived. There is no deposit required by the Jackson County Utility Authority. Any deposit you may have with the West Jackson County Utility District should be requested of them in accordance with their User Charge Ordinances.
Please feel free to call our office if there are any questions regarding this change.
Sincerely,
